Ensor House was in a dilapidated state, requiring substantial refurbishment and in need of service and amenities upgrades in order to meet DDA and BCA requirements.

Merat Pty Ltd’s strategy was to restore the heritage character of the building to its former state whilst remodeling the current amenities block, integrating “breakout” meeting space on the ground and first floor levels, enhancing natural light to the rear portion of the building. At ground level this meeting space opens onto an external deck area on the east side.

DDA access has also been accomplished through the addition of lift access conveniently located within the amenities block with minimal impact to the heritage value of the building.
