BIO21 MASS

SPECTROMETER LABORATORIES

University of Melbourne

This project involved the complex relocation of a series of Mass Spectrometers into the basement of the Bio21 Institute, Flemington Rd, Parkville.

Due to the continuing evolution of Mass Spectrometry equipment a flexible open plan laboratory was required, allowing for future equipment upgrades and maximum flexibility with experiments. Pendant mounted Specialist Gas and Electrical services, and flexible fume ducting was implemented to help achieve these goals.

Noise control has also been an issue in existing laboratories with ad-hoc use of vacuum pumps. This project has integrated these pumping systems into dedicated cupboards allowing the Laboratory to have an excellent acoustical working environment.
